Mitsuo Kobayashi's Journal
Camp Construction

Monday, October 22nd

It's been a long night. The nightmares have gotten worse since we've arrived on the isle. There may be some magic here, or perhaps an artifact of some kind that's amplifying them. The exploratory parties have found reached the mist, but have not yet found anything that could be causing these.

We've found the other group of explorers and are tracking their actions. If they venture too close to our camp, I will have to confront them.

Tuesday, October 23rd

My men have begun construction on some new temporary barracks to house them until we can find suitable land to set up a permanent camp. Today they cleared the ground and laid down a foundation. Construction isn't their forte, but my men learn fast. They have also begun building prefabricated wall sections to make the building assembly go quicker.

Meanwhile, our explorers to the north have ventured closer to us. I think tomorrow we will make our move and introduce ourselves.

Wednesday, October 24th

I have met with Prince Lewllyn and his friends. They don't seem to be particularly belligerent, so I think we can get along. Lewllyn and I have worked out a simple treaty to avoid stepping on each others toes. I think that this relationship will work out satisfactorily.

Back at camp, the men have been busy. The walls are going up on the first cabin, and the second cabin is prepped and ready to go. I'm pleased with how well they've adjusted to this island.

Thursday, October 25th

There have been some strange sounds coming from the forests closest to the mist. My men are beginning to worry that there is something dangerous lurking there. I've stepped up patrols in that area, as well as around camp.

Meanwhile, the cabins are coming along very well. The walls on the the first one are almost complete, and the second one has begun in earnest.

Friday, October 26th

The noises coming from the Dark Forest, as the men have named it, are getting louder and more furious sounding. There is something there, and I suspect it may be heading our way.

Surprisingly enough, the men continue to work extremely well on the cabins. I think that they grow wearing of sleeping outside in such strange lands. The weather has turned markedly cooler, and I can feel winter coming. The sooner we get these structures completed, the happier I, and my men, will be. They have finished all the walls and have begun putting up the thatch roof on the first cabin.
