Camp Construction, continued
Saturday, October 27th
Hiromi swore he saw something lurking in the trees around our camp during the night patrols, and I don't doubt
his excellent eyes. However, none of the other men have seen whatever it was he saw. Thankfully, the first barracks
is finished. The second should be done tomorrow.
Sunday, October 28th
The men finished the second cabin today. They are remarkably efficient in their work when properly motivated.
The atmosphere in camp is much lighter now that they have semi-permanent cover. The noises have made the men
paranoid. I half wonder if Bako has found his way to this island and is tormenting us. That would certainly
explain my dreams. Perhaps, though, it is just some strange creature, like the tentacle beast that confronted
us on the voyage across the see. Only time will tell.
Monday, October 29th
I ordered the men to build a supply shed today, and with the skills learned from the barracks, were able to finish
it within the day. Yukio has spent the week carving shachi to protect our buildings, and they were installed today.
May they bless us and keep us safe.
Tuesday, October 30th
The men have stepped up in the training, sparring for much of the day. I wonder if they may be growing restless.
A week of carpentry may have had an adverse affect on morale.
It's time to confront the noises at the edge of the mist. Kenji wants desperately to find out what is going on,
so I will send him with half of the men and see what they can find out.
