Rasputin Turbocycle
01/06/2002

In the farther outer rings of the galaxy, the growing sport of Turbocycle racing is gaining in popularity among the more daring citizens of the populated worlds. It's extremely dangerous, highly illegal, and very profitable for those with the reflexes and building skills to win frequently. Many novice racers, and more than a few experienced ones, die on the racetracks of the Turbocycle League.

Among the more successful racers in the League is Rasputin Kayovski. His blue and gray racer is the envy of many competitors in the league. It's believed that Rasputin has cybernetic implants that enhance his reflexes by tying his neural system directly into the bike's electronics. The bike itself is obviously very fast and powerful. It has a Illiavitch I-T661 microfusion powerplant that drives both wheels. An internal gyroscopic system helps keep the large machine properly balanced in turns. Unlike some other bikes, Rasputin's doesn't have any weaponry on board. Some bikes are equipped with offensive and defensive weapons, but Rasputin relies on his skill alone to win.

I needed to build something smaller, as some of my recent creations and the ones I'm planning for the future are ludicrisly large and complicated. Thus, the Turbocycle League was born. There will probably be a few more creations for the league in the future, but it all depends on the fickle fingers of inspiration :)

Rasputin's Cycle was built over the course of an evening, after I came up with a name (Rasputin) and my wife told me what to build ("How about a motorcycle?") My inspiration was Mark Sandlin's MotoTek Shiva. But then just about any two wheeled vehicle using the Naboo Fighter canopy could be construed to be an inspiration from that design. It took a few hours to complete. And it's another creation that uses Znap wheels in there.
