Kierbis Recon Bot
07/05/2001
The Kierbis is a small, remotely operated bot designed to infiltrate enemy territory. It is unmanned, but is equipped with a remarkable technology. Two field generators mounted on either side of the torso allow it to change color, much like a chameleon. That's why this particular spy mech is painted orange. It doesn't seem like it would be particularly good camoflage, but the field generators take care of the problem. The Kierbis is also equipped with a jetpack, and a pair of forearm mounted laser cannons in case of problems. The large single eye contains myriad sensors and recording devices.
The simple challenge in building this mech was to construct a vehicle using only orange elements where possible. I of course never had a chance to buy the orange halloween buckets or pumpkins from a few year or so ago, so I didn't have much to go with. The only elements that I used that weren't orange or trans-orange were hinges and turntables.
The bot has 26 points of articulation (2 in each ankle, knee, 3 in each hip, waist, 2 in each shoulder, elbow, two fingers, and two wings on the back).
