Chaos Nova

The Taiaphan Space Corps decided they wanted to expand their line and build a larger, faster, stronger, and warp capable fighter to supplement the Megaera. Of course the Planetary Senate wanted it quickly. To build fast, they had to forgo the usual design cues that make spaceship designs smooth and clean. Most notably is the lack of protective fairings surrounding the two wing mounted TyrVallus 3500 Full Spectrum Phaser cannons.
Also surprisingly unprotected is the core of the Futbolinium Hyperdrive Reactor. The reactor has to be exposed to space in order for it to function, and it is usually covered with protective plating. Here, however it's mounted between the dorsal fins.
The cockpit has seating for two, a pilot and a navigator/gunner.
The Chaos Nova was an exercise in lame part usage. It was built for Lugnet's Lame Parts Building Contest. The contest was conceived to find creative ways to use a handful of lame parts. I took the concept on headlong and used at least one of each of the lame parts that I had in my collection, plus two extras. There are ten total different lame parts in the Chaos Nova:
- 5 tree stumps
- 8 technic round piston heads
- 2 throwbot discs
- 4 manta rays
- 6 row boats
- 1 soccer ball
- 4 rope bridges
- 2 sails
- 2 adventurers car radiators
- 6 Knight's Kingdom catapults
